Unknown trek of the Ruby Valley and the Ganesh BC – 10D / 9N

You will discover the Ganesh Himal mountain range in the Langtang region. The Ruby Valley offers a unkrowded trek. Far from mass tourism, at the foot of the region’s high peaks.
You will hike in an authentic region of Nepal. It’s a journey to discover the beauty of the region, but also the local ethnic groups: Ghale, Gurung, Tamang and Dalit. These people are renowned for their distinct cultures and traditions, but also for their hospitality.

This hiking offers spectacular views of the Himalayas: Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal and other high mountains.

This is a fully supported homestay that promotes community life and encourages economic development in the valley. There are no luxury lodges here – you’ll be staying with local people. We will be staying in the villages of Borang, Chalish, Tipling, Pangsang and Somdong.

This off-the-beaten-track trek in Nepal is perhaps one of the least well-known. It has a moderate level, making it accessible to beginners and experienced trekkers.

Itinerary of the Ruby Valley trek :

Day 1 : Your arrival at Kathmandu – Transfer to your hotel

Depending on your arrival, you will have more or less free time. We’ll take the time to get to know you over a welcome diner.
If you arrive in the morning, we will have time to visit Kathmandu in the afternoon and then leave for Pokhara the following day.

Day 2 : Kathmandu

With your city guide with driver, Sightseeing tour of the more important place of Kathmandu : Pashupatinath temple, durbar square of Patan, Bodnath… After it, Free time to discover the quater of Thamel. Overnight at the Hotel

Day 3 : Syabru Besi (1,500 meters)

From the hotel, we’ll take the car (about 8 hours’ drive, 110 km) to Syabrubesi. It may be possible to see a glimpse of the Ganesh Himal (7,422 metres). Departure at 7.00 am – Overnight in a lodge

Day 4 : Syabru Besi to Gatlan (2,338 meters)

Gotlan is a peaceful village. It is populated by Tamang and Gurungs. To get there, we pass through other small villages and a pine forest.
11 km – Approximately 5 hours’ walk – Overnight in homestay

Day 5 : Gotlan to Somdan (3,637 meters)

We’ll still be in the vegetation, surrounded by pine forest and rhododendrons (magnificent in spring). We cross the Somdang river. It marks the separation between the districts of Rasuwa and Dhading. To reach the village of Somdan, we cross the Khupra Bhanjyang pass.
13 km – Approximately 6 hours’ walk – Overnight in homestay

Day 6 : Tipling (1,875 meters) via Pangsang Pass

The aim of this trek is not to tickle the clouds. Here we are at the highest point of the trek. The Pangsang Pass is at an altitude of 3,845 metres. It’s a great place to see the Ganesh Himal and also Mount Manaslu.
The Tamang ethnic group is in the majority here. That’s why there are Buddhist monasteries. There are also Christian churches. In Tipling, this will be a great opportunity to interact with the local population and share their authentic traditions..
14 km – 6 / 7 hours – Overnight in homestay

Day 7 : Tipling to Chalish

It’s a short day’s walk compared to the other days of the trip. It will be a day of rest before to have a big day the next day. The village of Serthung is only a few metres away. We’ll drop in to visit it together..
4 km – 2 hours – Overnight in homestay

Day 8 : Chalish to Darkha Gaon

We’ll be at a lower altitude than Kathmandu. We’ll only be at 850 metres. On the way to Dharka Gaon village, rivers, forest and the village of Borang will be along the path.
23 km – 7 / 8 hours – Overnight in lodge

Day 9 : Dharkha Gaon to Dharkha Phedi then Kathmandu.

It only takes an hour to get to Darkha Phedi. From here we drive back to Kathmandu. In the evening, we’ll all have dinner together to reminisce about the good times and to say see you soon for new adventures.

Day 10 : Departure day

Free time and transfer to Kathmandu airport from the hotel.
