Two points of view on the Annapurna
This short trek in the lower Annapurna region, you will experience sunrise at Muldai and Poon Hill.
You will walk on the trails of the foothills of the Himalayas. Ghorepani and Poon Hill which offer very beautiful sunsets over the high peaks of the Annapurna region.
You will be able to see Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters), Tukuche Ri (6920 meters), Nilgiri (7,061 meters), Annapurna South (7,061 meters), Himchuli (6,441 meters), Machhapuchhare and other peaks.
The part of the trek for Muldai Hill is much more authentic. This part is populated by Magars and Gurungs. You will be off the beaten track here. Moreover, the night in the village of Dobato (3,420 meters) will be very rustic.
This trek in Nepal does not require you to be a seasoned hiker. Altitude will not be a problem. The highest point is 3,420 meters. It is also a good choice for a first trip to Nepal.
Muldai and Poon Hill trek route day by day:
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – Transfer to your hotel
Depending on your arrival, you will have more or less free time. We will take the time to get to know each other during a dinner offered to you and to welcome you.
If you arrive in the morning, we will have time to visit Kathmandu in the afternoon at leisure and then leave for Pokhara the next day.
Day 2: Pokhara by road
The trip will be by local tourist bus. It will take about 7 hours (200 km) to reach Pokhara. A lunch break is planned (not included) – Night at the hotel with swimming pool
It is possible to make the transfer by plane at an additional cost. This will allow you to have some free time in Pokhara.
Day 3: Ghandruk (1,940m) – Tadapani (2,630m)
From Pokhara, we will take the car (about 2.5 hours drive) to Kimche. Here the trek begins. The trail is uphill through the pine and rhododendron forest and to arrive at the village of Ghandruk. This will be an opportunity to have the first views of the high peaks of the region: Himchuli, Machhapuchhare and Annapurna South. Then we will go to Tadapani – 5 hours walk Night in lodge
Day 4: Tadapani – Dobato (3,349 meters)
From there, you will walk in a more remote Annapurna region. You will discover authentic Nepalese villages. On the ridge off the beaten track, on the way through the jungle, it is possible to see wild animals: musk deer, white and brown monkeys, Himalayan thars and birds. By last chance, we may have the privilege of seeing a snow leopard furtively in the distance (very fearful). The landscape changes from forest to pasture very quickly. Arriving at the village of Dobato, we will have the pleasure of seeing the Dhaulagiri range and the Tukuche Peak. – About 5 hours of walking – Night in a lodge
Day 5: Dobato – Muldhai (3,637 meters) – Ghorepani
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for, Muldai Lookout, more than Poon Hill you’ll have noticed. From the hill of Muldai, the view of the Dhalagiri range and the Annapurna range, the Hiunchuli and the Gangapurna (7,455 meters). The landscape of these mountains leaves no one indifferent. The view is more spectacular than at Poon Hill. The alarm clock will be early!
After breakfast at the lodge, we will take the road back down to Ghorepani.
8 to 10 hours of walking – Night in a lodge
Day 6: Ghorepani, Poon Hill to Ulleri
Early wake up (5.30am) – we will start early in the morning to climb the hill above Ghorepani to get to Poonhill (3,210m) – We will then return to Ghorepani for breakfast and start descending to Ulleri. The trail leading to ulleri descends through the rhododendron forest. From Ulleri, we will take a jeep to Pokhara via Nayapul to arrive in Pokhara.
Day 7: Return to Kathmandu
Transfer is by local tourist bus. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Possibility of returning by plane to have free time in Kathmandu, at an additional cost.
Day 8: visit Bhaktapur – Night in Bhaktapur
Day 9: Day of departure. If the plane is in the evening, that still leaves time to enjoy a bit of Kathmandu.
