We will start the day with a visit to the Thamel district. We will take a moment to taste Chiya Khayo. It is a traditional tea. Thamel is a shopping district and has been since the Hippie era. It will be a journey back in time. Open your eyes, many little things are happening to the right and left as well as many temples. After this first discovery, it will be time to eat. We will eat momos with a lassi (drinks are not included). For digestion, a little walking.
Cities can be discovered on foot. We will go down south of the district to the temple of Aakask Bhaurav which would have been a palace of the first king of Nepal. From there, we will continue our walk to Durbar Square and the Basantpur Dabali visit. At the end of the afternoon, we go back north of the Thamel district via Indra Chowk. We are in the old city of Kathmandu. It’s never lonely here. At the end of all this excitement, we will rest, in peace, in the dream garden. Return to the hotel, where we will have earned our rest. Welcome lunch if we didn’t have the opportunity to take it when you arrived. - Day 3 : Kathmandu Est
This day is mainly devoted to discovering the eastern part of Kathmandu city. A day that may be emotionally charged. Indeed, you will have the opportunity to enter deeply into Nepalese traditions and culture during your visit to Pashupatinath, the holy place of Hinduism. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, the Nepalese people practice cremations according to the Hindu rite on a daily basis. The temple was miraculously spared following the 2015 earthquake. Then, we will walk, always on foot for a better discovery of the city and what it really is, to the stupa Buddhanath passing before by the temples of Shiva Shrine and Gorakhnth.
Buddhanath, also known as Bodnath, is an important Buddhist sanctuary. It is certainly the most appreciated and visited place in Kathmandu. It is one of the largest stupas in the world. After this visit, we will drive to the “Monkey Temple” but the real name is Swayambunath Temple. For a better experience, we will take the stairs allowing an immersion. To end the day, you will be accommodated in a host family where you will have a kitchen lesson to share a true moment with the population. - Day 4 : Patan – Bandipur
Before taking the road to Bandipur by car (5 hours of driving, 140 kilometers), it is impossible not to visit Duarbar Square in Patan.
Bandipur was once a prosperous village. Perched on a 1,030-metre hillside, Bandipur is a charming village with traditional Newaris houses that has the particularity of being lit by candles once night falls. This ancient city offers a panoramic view of Langtang, the Ganesh Himal, Manaulu and the Annapurna range. In the heart of the bazaar, the temples of Mahalaxmi Mandir and Bindebasini. Take time to enjoy the view! Overnight in a lodge in Bandipur. - Day 5 : Bandipur – Pokhara
In the morning, we will hike to the village of Ramkot (5 hours round trip). Ramkot is an isolated village away from the world facing the Himalayas. A village populated by barely a few families living almost self-sufficient. The inhabitants are smiling and yet they lack everything. A village that receives no help. Everyone in the village helps each other. To get there, you will observe a still virgin nature and breathtaking landscapes. You will have plenty of time to meditate along the way, we will not meet anyone. You will not forget this unique village.
Return to Bandipur and drive to Pokhara (2 hours, 80 kilometers). We will leave our bags at the hotel and take a short walk along the lake, quietly. The group will spend the evening together, have dinner and share a few beers to discuss each other’s feelings about what each has felt so far. And why not confirm the friendships born after these four days of travel. - Day 6 : Pokhara – Birethanti
To vary the pleasures, from this day on, a small 4-day trekking tour. A porter will come to join us to relieve the kilos of the bags.
